Since a loft conversion is a sizeable investment, it makes sense to learn all you can about the process. You can ask us any questions at any stage, with our team on hand to provide all the information you need. We’ll take the time to address any concerns you might have, making sure you’re confident that we’re the right team for the job. There are three key stages to the loft conversion process – the consultation stage, the drawing stage and the build stage.
Consultation
The first step in the loft conversion process is for us to provide you with a quote for the work. To do this, we’ll measure up the space, recording the dimensions accurately. We’ll also take photographs of the loft and the external roofing so that we have all the information we need to formulate an accurate quotation. The quote will include the full costings as well as timescales for the work. If you have any questions after reviewing it, please don’t hesitate to ask us. Our quotes are free with no obligation to proceed.
Design
Once you’ve approved our quote, we can begin the drawing stage of the process. We’ll put together some ideas for your loft conversion that are designed around your needs. We’ll invite you to meet our surveyor who will go through the suggested plans for your conversion. They will take into account all the specifications, including the head height and the staircase position. If you have any questions or concerns about the plans, talk to our team. This is your loft conversion project and we want to ensure that it reflects your vision exactly.
Build
Once the quote has been approved and the design of your loft conversion agreed upon, we’ll apply for planning permission, building control and party wall agreements if required. Then, once we have clearance, we’ll set a date to begin the building work. We’ll ensure you meet the Project Manager and project manager before the build commences, giving you a chance to ask any questions you might have at this stage. We will erect the necessary scaffolding, order the materials and then begin building your dream conversion. The Project Manager will update you regularly with the progress of the work.
Once the build is complete, you can then begin enjoying your new loft conversion.
To supply you with an accurate quote, we will record the relevant dimensions and measurements. Our team will also take a number of photographs of the loft space and external roofing to provide our support team with as much information as possible.
Based on the requirements discussed with our surveyor and the scale of construction work needed to build the loft conversion, we will put together a detailed quotation for you to review. This will include full costings and timescales for the project and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have about the quote.
We are proud of our ever growing list of satisfied customers and have numerous examples of completed loft conversions we can show you. If preferred, we would also be happy to arrange for you to talk to one of our previous customers about their experience.
All of this is a free, no obligation service, designed to get you best loft conversion advice possible.
Once the quote has been approved we can proceed to putting together some loft conversion design ideas. We will arrange a suitable time for you to meet with our architect to go through the proposed plans for the conversion. Our draughtsman will take into consideration all of the relevant specifications, such as adequate head height and staircase position, as well as any other specifics that are related to your particular loft conversion.
We encourage people to raise any concerns or objections they may have about the loft conversion plans at this stage. Our team are professionals and understand that this is a personal project for your home and will never take offence at your suggestions.
With the loft conversion cost and the design agreed upon, where required, applications for planning permission, building control and party wall agreements will need to be sought. Once we have clearance we will agree a set date to commence work on your property and arrange for you to meet with the foreman and Project Manager ahead of the build. Once the appropriate scaffolding has been erected, we will order the materials and begin work on your loft conversion.
Your Project Manager will regularly visit the site and feedback to you on its progress. They will also be available at any time during the working day for you to contact if you have any concerns or questions that need answering.
For months, or maybe even longer, you’ve had the image of a new loft in your mind. After all the hard work you’ve put into making it a reality, you can finally begin to enjoy the fruits of your labour.
Now the construction work has finished, the materials and scaffolding have been cleared away, and you’ve received a completion certificate, you can take a moment to step back and soak in the beautiful new loft that stands on top of your property.
The flexibility of a new loft also means you do not have to commit to one thing forever. Think of it as a blank canvas that can be adapted to your needs as they change through the years.
You’ve put your heart and soul into improving your home and now it is time to reap the benefits.
